Wrapped Heart Wreath
Transform a simple wreath form and some scrap fabric into this rustic tribute to cupid. MATERIALS
Heart wreath form
Fabric
Heavyweight paper (I used watercolor paper)
Pins
Dowel
Marker
STEPS
Cut the fabric into 3" to 4" wide strips the length of the fabric. Don't worry about being exact, I didn't even measure, just cut them by eye. Use pins to secure one end of a piece onto the back of the wreath form.
Wrap the fabric around the form bunching it up a little and overlapping it as you go. When you get to the end of a strip, pin it down and start a new strip from the back, being sure to cover the end pins from the previous strip. Continue until the entire wreath is covered.
Insert your dowel by parting the fabric in the desired location and just gently pushing it through the styrofoam. In one side, out the other.
Make the arrowhead and the quills from cut paper and glue in place.
Cut strips of paper for your banner. I used three pieces and then cut small squares the same width to join the three strips into one long one.
Wrap the long banner around the wreath at an angle that will balance the arrow. I arranged mine so the seams where I joined the paper ended up behind the wreath. Cut off any excess at the ends and notch the ends with scissors if you'd like.
For the writing, pencil it lightly onto the banner at this point. Then remove the banner, use your marker or a calligraphy pen to write out your message. Once dry, re-wrap it around the wreath and secure the banner with a few pens in the back.
