Superhero Birthday Party
When your kids want a superhero birthday party, you give them a superhero birthday party!
To make the city backdrop I drew the skyline on black foam core tryptic boards (the kind that you used for your social studies project in 7th grade)
Then cut it out using a utility knife.
To make it tall enough to be able to sit on the floor I then taped another tryptic to the bottom.
I cut randomly placed windows and backed them with yellow paper.
For the sky, thumbtack blue felt to the wall and add craft foam clouds.
Instead of a standard goody bag, craft secret identity boxes complete with glasses, bowtie, and pocket protector (all of which I got at a costume shop in a "nerd" costume set). I re-bottoled jumbo candy sprinkles into individual vials to look like some sort of villain antidote. Use the link below for the box cover badge.
To keep those future superheroes' fingers busy set up a DIY cape and mask table. I cut each cape from a single piece of 36"x36" felt and purchased paper pre-made masks. Use craft foam to cut various shapes or let the kids cut their own.
