What to do with 600 corks? Make a cork boot tray of course.

We've got a lot of corks.  I've been tossing them into a bowl for almost a decade now.  I wanted to find something interesting to do with them so decided to try using them in a boot tray.  I'm very happy with it....the only problem is I don't want anyone to put their dirty shoes on it now!

One of the many great things about corks is that they repel water, so how perfect to use for a boot tray!  The corks keep the wet and snowy shows elevated so they can dry out and the tray keeps the water from running all over the floor. I used a boot tray that I found on Amazon.  When shopping for one, make sure that it has straight sides, a lot of them have curved or slanted sides, and make sure that the height works with the majority of your corks.

The next step is pretty straight forward - stand the corks up in the try.  Uh, yeah, that's it. Don't glue them in, since you want to be able to dump them out and hose them down once in a while.  Get them in as tight as possible and they won't go anywhere.

 I did go back though and add some darker corks intermittently to give the looks of tile.  Also, if you don't have the plethora of corks I do, you can actually buy them by the bag full at craft stores....but collecting them one at a time is much more fun, if not efficient.  Once you've got your tray done, what you need is good boots!  I ran across this great Ugg boot outlet, check them out here.
