Concrete Planters from $1.00 Cinder Block Caps!

I love the look of modern concrete planters, but they're not cheap!  Here's a quick and easy stand-in made of cinder-block caps that will only set you back $6.00 total!!  They make great substitutes until you're ready to dish out the big bucks...

MATERIALS

Cinderblock caps - these are made to go on top of cinderblocks and will cost you about $0.90 each!

STEPS

Spend some time deciding on your configuration at the hardware store.  The caps usually come in at least two sizes: 8" x 2" x 16" and 6" x 2" x 16".  I used 6 for the lower one and 7 for the tall one.  You want to make sure that when you use 1 or 2 for the bottom, that the sides will meet all around.

Once you've got your configuration mastered, simply go back and attach all the caps to each other with the adhesive.  Start with the ones on the bottom, attach them to each other, and then add the sides.  When you're attaching the bottom ones, don't use a solid line of adhesive, use more of a dotted line, the gaps will give the water a place to drain.

Let the adhesive dry according to the instructions on the label and you'll be ready to plant!
