Sports Jersey Pillows

Trying to figure out what kind of indestructible pillows you can get for the kids' rooms, while also trying to figure out what to do with last year's sports jerseys they're so proud of? Kill two birds with one stone!  I made these sports jersey pillows for this Saturday's episode of Home Made Simple on OWN, 9a/8c.  They couldn't be easier.  If you want to bring the sports theme to your family's Man Cave, but don't have any jerseys laying around?  You can find out how to make your own using iron on numbers and turn them into pillows at www.HomeMadeSimple.com.Here's the how to using actual jerseys:1. Uh, wash the jerseys.....then wash them again.  Use lots of Bounce.  These are boy's jerseys we're talking about.2. Turn a jersey inside out and lay flat on a table.  Using a ruler, chalk and straight pins, mark out a square.  This is a little tricky depending on the size and shape of the jersey.  To make it as easy as possible, you want the top line to be below the neck opening, the sides to miss any funkiness around the arm holes, and the bottom to be before the shirt starts to taper.  Depending on the size of your Joe Namath, this could mean a very small or very large pillow.  If you want to use a standard size pillow insert for the stuffing then make sure your square is 16" square (for an 18" insert) or 18" square (for a 20" insert) or if your still in little league, 10" square (for a 12" insert).  You can also just use loose poly filling or fabric scraps - in which case, it doesn't matter what size your square is.3. Using scissors cut an inch outside of the pins and discard the extra fabric.4. Sew a straight line around 3 sides of the jersey.5. Turn the jersey right side out and insert pillow form, poly filing or fabric scraps.6. Turning in the raw edges, hand sew the 4th side close.7. Have your kids think you are the coolest parent EVER!
