Mason Jar Chandelier
I know you’ve seen these chandeliers in magazines and designer blogs. Did you know they run from $200 to over $600 bucks? Yeah, I thought the same thing - that’s crazy! Well, using an inexpensive bathroom fixture as a start you can make your own for around $50. That’s more like it!
MATERIALS
6 Light vanity fixture
1”x8” board or a reclaimed board
Hammered bronze spray paint
6 Mason jars
Electric cord kit
Wood stain
4 Wrought iron plant hooks
E6000
Take apart your light fixture by removing the socket covers ...
and lifting off the fixture cover.
Take the rings from the mason jar lids and glue them around each socket opening. Let dry.
Spray paint the cover and the socket sleeves.Cut your board so it’s slightly longer than your fixture. If you’re using the 1”x8” board, distress and stain it. (A hammer and hatchet do the trick.)
Drill a hole in the location where the wires from the fixture will need to come through.
Pass the wires through the hole.
Attach the fixture to the top of the board using screws in the supplied holes.
Reattach the fixture cover...
and secure with sleeves.
Attach a plant hook to each corner.
Use the electric cord kit to attach a plug to the wires coming through the hole.
Hang either directly from the plant hooks or add chain if you need to drop it lower. Run the cord up one of the hooks to your power source.
Enjoy your chandelier while you figure out what do do with the remaining $550.--
