Life Preserver Mirror

I don’t have a lake house... a beach house...we don’t even have a stream at our place, but if we did I would do it up with all the fun waterside references I could muster. This mirror would definitely fit the bill. Easy to do and great for the entry hall, back porch or family room!
MATERIALS
Life preserver
Rope
Ribbon
Frameless mirror (larger than life preserver opening but smaller than overall diameter)
Decorative letters
Flush mount bracket
Wall hook
Gorilla glue
STEPS
Not all life preservers are created equal. Some are perfectly weathered with an old family lake house stenciled on them...some are brand new from the pool store (like mine). If yours looks great, just leave it as is. If yours needs some charm, then have at it. This is what mine looked like when I got it:Yeah, not so charming.
So I removed the nylon rope (simply cut the stitches with a utility knife) and inserted huge rope in its place. Being that it’s now only decorative I just got glued the rope into place.T
o gussy up the webbing, I cut pieces of ribbon and glued them directly on the webbing leaving a slight border of the original on each side.
Now figure out your spacing with the letters and the preserver.Decide where the mirror will be and attach it to the wall using a flush mount bracket.
Use Gorilla glue (or similar) to attach one bracket (pointing down) to the back of the mirror and screw the other onto the wall (pointing up).
When everything is dry, simply slide the mirror bracket onto the wall bracket.Add a wall hook above the mirror and hang the life preserver. Add your letters on either side. Ahoy Matey!!
