What’s just as well received, but not as caloric as a box of chocolates? A box of flowers. I’m taking that iconic chocolate box look, but swapping out those sweet little choco’s with some roses and succulents.
Poster or matt board
Floral foam (dry or wet depending on if your using live or silk roses)
9 Tuna fish cans
Draw a heart onto your matt board and cut out with a utility knife. Also cut two strips of matt board that are the same height as your ribbon.
Hot glue the two strips around the edge of the heart shape to create your box, trim off any extra at the tip. Then hot glue your ribbon around the edge.
Create holders for your roses by pressing two tuna fish cans into opposing sides of the floral foam. If you’re using live roses, make sure you soak the floral foam first. Break off the excess and then cut the two in half. I needed 6 filled cans for my arrangement.
Cut your roses very short and insert 3 or 4 into the floral foam in each can.
Plant your succulents in the remaining 3 cans. They should be about the same height as the roses.
Arrange all the cans into the matt board heart.
Add moss into the space between the cans and use it to cover up any of the floral foam.
Share it with someone you love….or Kearran Giovanni from Major Crimes if no one else is around.
