When Dave Lowe, our Home & Family Propmaster, and I were in the garage brainstorming to find a fun way to reveal the Hallmark charms we kept coming up blank. Then we asked ourselves, what was most iconic about Valentine’s Day to us – at the top of both of our lists: Sweetheart candies! Dave took it from there and created this amazing box that’s perfect for counting down the days. Honestly, I like the little boxes so much, they’d be a great standalone project as well. Perfect for holding diamond rings…..okay, or chocolates.

This printed artwork: sweetheartbox
If necessary, paint you curio cabinet or shadow box frame white. Download the artwork above and resize it to fit the glass front of your cabinet and print it out. Use a utility knife to cut out the inner pink heart to create a window. Use spray adhesive to attach it to the glass of your cabinet.
To finish the inside cut five pieces of foam core – one that fits the back of the box and four that fit the sides. Cut a pieces of felt to fit the back piece, attach it to the foam core with spray glue and place it in the bottom of the box. If you’ve cut it just right you shouldn’t even have to glue it in place.
Due the same with the four sides, making sure to wrap the exposed top edge of the pieces with felt as well.
Attach the self adhesive letters to the front expressing the full range of Valentine’s emotions.
To attach them to the box, stick a small piece of only the hook side of velcro to the back of the heart. It will adhere to the felt.
And there you have it, a completely adorable giant size candy box. I always love working with Dave, to see some of his other projects, check outDave Lowe Blogspot.
